Associate of Arts – General Studies

Patten University is preparing to offer an Associate of Arts in General Studies online degree program to provide students with a solid liberal arts foundation for future educational and career opportunities. The program's broad focus encourages the expansion of perspectives to create awareness of the key forces of societal change: social, cultural, historical, economic, political, and technological. Students entering the the program will take a broad range of General Education courses ultimately leading, to the awarding of an A.A. in General Studies.

While the program is pending final approval, our accreditor, WASC (the Western Association of Schools and Colleges) has given us permission to start enrolling students as undeclared majors. Entering students will begin taking a set of core General Education courses that will count toward the Associate of Arts in General Studies. The University expects to receive approval later this school year. Once final approval is received, students will be able to declare the online A.A. in General Studies as their designated degree program.
