On-Campus Academic Assistance

Patten has a variety of on-site and electronic resources available to students who want to enhance their learning or address challenges in their coursework. Campus-based students can take advantage of the following services conveniently located in one location, the Learning Commons:

Individual Tutoring – Faculty and peer tutors help students address academic issues so they succeed with coursework and major assignments. Students can receive assistance for a single assignment or tutoring throughout a specific course as they master key concepts and skills.

English Language Development Assistance – Formal classes and personal and computer-based tutorials support students’ success as their English language proficiency increases.

Information and Research Assistance – The Learning Commons hosts dedicated workspaces for research and other computer-related services to accommodate individual and small group needs. Staff provide technology-related assistance as well as help with information literacy through personalized attention and tutorials. Learning resources can be accessed onsite, with many also available offsite electronically.
